The Overview

A driveway sealed the way the concrete deserves.

A residential concrete driveway is one of the largest unprotected surfaces on most properties. It takes road salt tracked in on tires, oil drips from every parked car, UV baking all summer, freeze-thaw cycles all winter, and lawn-chemical overspray the rest of the year. Left uncoated, a 20-year-old driveway looks it — stained, spalled, micro-cracked at every control joint. A polyaspartic sealing program catches the slab before the damage compounds and extends its service life by a decade or more.

Driveway work has specific requirements that don’t apply to a garage or patio. The surface area is huge, often 800 to 2,000 square feet. Drainage matters — a driveway must shed water cleanly or standing puddles will freeze and crack. Slip-resistance is a legal requirement in most HOAs. And the color palette has to work outdoors, in natural light, against the house’s exterior finishes — not under garage LEDs. The system spec gets built around these constraints.

The polyaspartic driveway program Robert installs uses a pigmented base in an earth-tone palette (warm grey, charcoal, stone, warm sand, or a custom blend), an anti-slip aggregate broadcast sized for rolling tire safety, and two coats of aliphatic UV-stable polyaspartic as the wear layer. The finished driveway reads as a designed surface rather than a utility slab — and holds up for ten-plus years of freeze-thaw and salt with zero refresh. Book the driveway walk and we’ll pull measurements and pricing.

What’s Included

Driveway-specific system — different from any garage job.

01 · Assess

Slab Condition Report

Full driveway walk. Cracks, spalling, joint damage, drainage issues, and existing stain penetration documented. Quote tied to actual repair scope, not averaged.

02 · Repair

Crack & Joint Rehab

Structural cracks chased open and filled with flexible polyurea. Control joints cleaned out and resealed with polyurethane. Spalled edges rebuilt with mortar patch.

03 · Prep

Diamond Grind + Pressure Wash

Mechanical grind opens the surface profile. High-pressure wash removes embedded dirt and old sealer residue. Slab dried to moisture spec before primer.

04 · Color

Earth-Tone Pigmented Base

Pigmented outdoor-rated base coat. Warm grey, charcoal, stone, warm sand, or custom blend — matched to the house’s existing exterior palette.

05 · Anti-Slip

Aggregate Broadcast

Silica or aluminum-oxide anti-slip aggregate broadcast at a density sized for vehicle tire traction. HOA-compliant slip rating maintained even when wet.

06 · Topcoat

Two-Coat UV Polyaspartic

Aliphatic polyaspartic at full spec film build. UV-stable (won’t yellow), salt-resistant, oil-rejecting, freeze-thaw rated for ten-plus years of Carolina weather.

How It Goes Down

Weekend install. Decade of service.

Driveway Walk & Quote

On-site measurement, slab condition report, drainage check, color consultation against the home’s exterior. Written quote tied to actual linear footage of repair work — no ballpark pricing.

Day One — Repair & Prep

Cracks opened and filled, control joints resealed, edges rebuilt. Diamond grind opens surface, pressure wash pulls dirt, moisture test confirms drying. Primer coat goes down once slab passes.

Day Two — Color & Broadcast

Pigmented base coat rolled across the full driveway. Anti-slip aggregate broadcast wet, at traction-rated density. Overnight cure. Loose aggregate recovered next morning.

Day Three — Topcoat & Cure

Two polyaspartic topcoats. Walkable same evening. Vehicle-ready in 24 hours. Robert walks the finished driveway, flags any punch items, delivers care sheet and color record.

Common Questions

Driveway-specific questions.

How long does a polyaspartic driveway coating last?

Ten-plus years in typical Carolina residential use is the baseline we spec to. The polyaspartic topcoat is rated for UV exposure, salt, oil, and freeze-thaw cycling — the three things that degrade untreated concrete fastest. When refresh time arrives, it’s a topcoat reapplication rather than a full redo. The color layer is permanent.

Will the coating crack when the concrete moves with temperature?

We preserve every existing control joint — those joints exist specifically to absorb thermal movement in the slab. The coating never crosses a structural joint. Between joints, the polyaspartic has controlled flex formulated for exterior slab work. This is why outdoor driveway work uses a different spec than garage floors: the rigidity that protects a garage would crack outside. See our outdoor program.

Is it safe to drive on when wet?

Yes. The anti-slip aggregate broadcast into the topcoat maintains slip-resistance ratings well inside the ANSI safe threshold even in wet conditions. Aggregate is sized for vehicle tire traction — not so coarse that it sounds rough underfoot for pedestrians, dense enough to hold rain-wet friction.

What colors are available beyond grey?

Earth-tone palettes built to read beautifully against residential exteriors: warm grey, charcoal, stone, sand, terracotta, slate blue. Custom color matching against the home’s shutters, stone, or brick accents is included on projects over a thousand square feet. See finished color examples on our gallery.

Can you coat over my stamped concrete driveway?

Yes — faded stamped concrete is one of our most common driveway refresh projects. The existing texture is preserved visually while a new pigmented polyaspartic system replaces the failed stamped color. Significantly less expensive than tearing out and repouring. Ask for examples at the walkthrough.

Do you handle driveways outside Charlotte city?

Yes — the full metro including Mint Hill, Matthews, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Concord, Fort Mill, and Waxhaw. Larger luxury driveways in the Lake Norman market are a regular part of our schedule. Call (704) 775-1120 or check our service area map.
