Day One, Prep

Day Two, Coat System
Base coat rolled, flake or metallic broadcast while the base is still wet, loose flake swept and recycled, then polyaspartic topcoat rolled and back-rolled for even film build.
Cure & Handover

How long does a garage floor coating last?
A properly prepped and coated garage floor using industrial polyaspartic topcoat is rated for fifteen to twenty years of residential use. The systems Carolina Epoxy installs exceed the spec for most commercial automotive showrooms, which see heavier traffic than any home garage. UV stability, chemical resistance, and thermal shock tolerance are all engineered in, the weakest point on a correctly installed floor is the concrete substrate itself.
Can you coat over an existing failed epoxy floor?
Yes, but only after mechanical removal. Any failed coating must be ground off back to raw concrete before a new system goes down, coating over a failing layer just bonds the new floor to a compromised base, and it will fail faster the second time. Robert always quotes this honestly: sometimes the prep is the bigger cost because the existing floor has to come off first.

Do I have to move everything out of the garage?
Yes. The slab needs to be completely clear for the duration of the two-day install. Robert can coordinate scheduling with your storage situation, most customers either stage items in the driveway, a PODS container, or a friend’s garage for forty-eight hours.
What’s the difference between flake and metallic systems?
Flake is a color-chip broadcast system, cosmetically forgiving, slip-resistant, and the most common residential finish. Metallic is a pigmented pour with a pearl-like optical depth, each floor is one-of-one, more premium-looking, and typically specified when the garage doubles as a showroom or entertaining space.
